What it is

Lamination is a multilayer bonding process that combines textiles, foams, membranes and other technical materials to create functional, stable and durable structures, while maintaining elasticity, comfort and strength throughout the service life of the orthopaedic product.

By selecting the most suitable materials and lamination system, different properties can be integrated into a single structure, optimising mechanical performance, breathability, handle and dimensional stability. The result is lighter, more homogeneous components designed to meet the requirements of each application.

Lamination also makes it possible to reduce the number of components, minimise subsequent manufacturing operations and improve process repeatability, facilitating the industrial production of orthopaedic products with enhanced technical performance and consistent quality.

The key to lamination is not simply joining materials, but designing multilayer structures capable of delivering exactly the performance required for each orthopaedic application.

Benefits

  • Stable and durable bonding of technical materials.
  • Integration of multiple functions into a single multilayer structure.
  • Elastic, breathable and comfortable structures.
  • Greater dimensional stability and resistance to continuous use.
  • Improved product performance in contact with the skin.
  • Reduction in seams, components and manual operations.
  • Cleaner, more technical and uniform finishes.
  • Greater freedom in design and anatomical development.
  • More consistent, repeatable and scalable production.

Applications

  • Orthopaedic support belts and waistbands.
  • Lumbar and back supports.
  • Knee, ankle and elbow supports.
  • Immobilisers and splints.
  • Compression and support products.
  • Insoles, pads and podiatric solutions.
