The Royal Tapestry Factory in Madrid was the venue chosen by DHL to host the 2018 Atlas Export Awards ceremony.
These prestigious awards, held on March 21, recognized the work and effort of Spanish SMEs in internationalizing their products and services, as well as promoting the Spanish brand worldwide. The evaluation also considered inclusive policies, diversity promotion, gender equality, and corporate social responsibility practices.
The Secretary of State for Trade, Xiana Margarida Méndez Bértolo, presided over the event, where Grupo Morón was recognized with the “Accésit for Most Innovative Exporter.”
Established in Arnedo (La Rioja) since 1996, Grupo Morón manufactures special technical textiles for footwear, designed to provide comfort, resistance, and safety. The implementation of equality and social inclusion policies, its strong financial position, numerous patented brands, and a clear commitment to R&D&I were key reasons for the award.
The jury, composed of experts with extensive experience and knowledge of the Spanish business sector, evaluated company growth, expansion, investment, innovation, and sustainability. Members included representatives from the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, ICEX, the Spanish Association of Brands, Adigital, the Spanish Business Circle, the European Association of Journalists, and DHL Express Spain & Portugal.
In this edition, the decision was particularly difficult, as applications increased by 70% compared to the previous year, with more than 180 companies nominated, highlighting the strength of Spanish industry and its global competitiveness, according to Miguel Borrás, Managing Director of DHL Express Spain & Portugal.
Alongside Grupo Morón, Orbea S. Coop., Agrolaboratorios Nutricionales, and We Are Knitters received the "Grand Export Award" and the "Most Sustainable Export Award" and "E-commerce Export Award" respectively.
