Convixion Textiles Grupo Morón's Equestrian Fabrics

Innovation and technology for equestrian textiles: horse rugs, saddle pads, protectors, bandages, girths and stable flooring

Grupo Morón has launched the Convixion Textiles project, focused on developing new technical fabrics and advanced solutions for the competitive equestrian industry. The objective is to increase comfort for both riders and horses while providing greater functionality and performance to equestrian textiles.

To achieve this, the project aims to significantly improve and innovate current solutions through the introduction of seamless technical textiles, advanced textile treatments and new manufacturing processes capable of enhancing product performance and adding differentiated value to the various products used in the equestrian sector.

Horse Rugs

Horse rugs are widely used throughout the year to help regulate body temperature and protect the horse's health. They are available in different types depending on their intended use.

Cold-weather rugs must prevent body heat loss while providing waterproof protection during cold and rainy conditions. Since they are used outdoors, they must be manufactured from thermal, breathable and quick-drying fabrics, while also offering wind protection and water resistance.

Drying rugs are designed to absorb sweat after intensive training sessions, as well as water from rain or washing. They must provide a high absorption capacity per square centimetre to ensure rapid drying and protect the horse from cold temperatures.

Stable rugs are used inside stalls or during transportation to protect horses from abrasions caused by walls and surfaces while also providing thermal protection. They are available in different thicknesses and weights for each season. Summer rugs, on the other hand, help protect horses from high temperatures by rapidly wicking away sweat, reflecting ultraviolet rays and, in some cases, incorporating insect-repellent treatments against flies and other insects.

Saddle Pads and Numnahs

Saddle pads and numnahs protect the horse from friction caused by the saddle while also protecting the saddle from the horse's sweat. Therefore, they must be durable, non-slip to prevent saddle movement, highly absorbent and capable of incorporating hypoallergenic, antibacterial and healing treatments to help prevent allergic reactions and skin injuries caused by friction.

Horse Boots and Protectors

Horse protectors are used to safeguard tendons and fetlocks, helping to prevent injuries during training and competition. They must offer high durability, resistance and easy maintenance while providing a quick fastening system that allows rapid application and removal without compromising security.

Bandages

Bandages are also used to protect the horse's limbs, from the knee to the fetlock, against rubbing caused by protectors while supporting tendons and helping prevent injuries. They also promote blood circulation and provide additional comfort.

Depending on their intended use, they can be manufactured from thermal fabrics or elastic materials. They must be breathable, hypoallergenic and provide firm support together with a quick fastening system using hook-and-loop closures.

Girths

Girths are responsible for securing the saddle to the horse's body. They must be highly resistant and capable of absorbing tensile forces while simultaneously protecting the horse from rubbing and allergic reactions. For this reason, they may combine different high-tenacity synthetic materials, such as polyamide, with thermal, breathable and hypoallergenic fabrics.

Stable Flooring

Stable flooring for horses is generally made from interlocking tiles or roll materials designed to cover large surfaces. These flooring systems are typically manufactured from special rubber compounds and are widely used in stables, walkways, horse trucks, trailers and transport vehicles.

Such flooring must be highly durable and resistant while providing excellent shock absorption to protect the horse's joints. It should also prevent the accumulation of dirt and dust for easier cleaning and offer effective thermal insulation while remaining dry.

The Solutions

For the manufacture of all these products, Grupo Morón offers innovative and technologically advanced fabrics protected by several international patents. These materials comply with REACH Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 and the CADS RSL 2021 List of Restricted Substances / Version 08, making them suitable for a wide range of applications, including the equestrian sector.

  • OnMicro: Microfiber used as an outer material. Waterproof, extremely breathable, antibacterial, washable, resistant to chemical agents and environmentally friendly. Suitable for horse rugs, protectors and girths.
  • OnSteam: Microfiber designed for products requiring high absorption capacity. A skin-like fabric that is 100% breathable, offering complete moisture absorption and release for total dryness. Odour-free and antimicrobial. Perfect for rugs, saddle pads, numnahs and bandages.
  • OnTex: Waterproof, windproof and breathable membrane. This non-porous fabric prevents moisture penetration while remaining extremely breathable. Fully waterproof, flexible and environmentally friendly. The ideal solution for waterproof and breathable horse rugs.
  • OnDura: Technical fabric developed with high-tenacity fibers. Provides abrasion resistance, breathability and lightweight performance. Water-repellent and highly durable. The most suitable solution for high-resistance horse protectors.
  • OnClimate: Fabric composed of very fine intertwined nonwoven microfibers that trap body-generated heat. Thin and extremely lightweight while offering excellent protection against extreme cold. Recommended as thermal insulation for rugs and saddle pads.
  • Dermodry: Fabric designed to accelerate moisture absorption while keeping the skin dry at all times. Manufactured using Coolmax yarn, it is durable, comfortable and highly versatile. An excellent solution for bandages and the inner layer of saddle pads that remain in contact with the horse's skin.
  • Orthopaedics: Grupo Morón develops a wide range of orthopaedic textiles. Elastic, breathable and absorbent fabrics that can incorporate treatments such as eucalyptus, silver ions and aloe vera, making them highly suitable for horse bandages, saddle pads and numnahs.
